MEMS Capital Equipment Market

For 2009, the semiconductor MEMS IC market (which EXCLUDES printdriver MEMS devices) is estimated to be between $3.8B and $3.9Billion. This market is forecasted to grow to $7.3B by 2013, at a a CAGR of 17.1%.

MEMS unit volumes are expect to more than double from 2009 to 2013, to >8.3Billion units.

Based on recent MEMS IC market growth information, Global Technology Consultants now believe that the semiconductor MEMS test capital equipment market (Automatic Test Equipment, ATE) will cross the $100M threshold during the period of mid 2011 to mid 2013 time frame. This includes ATE for both wafer and final test. The present foundary production capacity equipment is sufficient to help meet demand through 2010, however adoption of new process improvement technolgy such a Dynamic Level Wafer test of MEMS devices will spur on R&D spending for that equipment in 2010 in preparation for production ramps in 2011 and 2012.

The MEMS handler/shaker/prober market is estimated to be of similar size, ~$100M in that time frame.
